One of the questions I get asked over and over again is, “When making tumblers, how do you keep the epoxy out of the inside of the cup?”
The answer? You don’t have to, Sis!
Today I’m going to show you my quick and simple method for how to clean up the epoxy tumbler rim – and it is SO easy!
You ready? Let’s do this!
Step 1: Remove excess epoxy from the tumbler rim
Using a knife like the Cricut True Control Knife or an exacto knife gently run the blade along the inside of the rim, working your way all the way around the cup. NOTE: Always take extra precautions and be EXTREMELY careful when you do this part of the clean up!
Pro Tip: I like to use the Cricut True Control Knife for this step because I find it a lot safer to use than a traditional exacto knife. The blade of the True Control Knife is locked into place so that it will not slide out and there is an anti-roll grip built in.
Step 2: Remove excess paint and glitter from the inside of the tumbler
Next, you will use 100% pure acetone to clean out any paint or glitter that is on the inside of the cup. Pour a small amount of acetone onto a clean paper towel and begin to wipe all around the inside of the cup. Note: Be careful not to get any acetone on the outside of the cup because it can damage the epoxy.
You may need to do this a couple of times until the inside of the tumbler is completely clean.
Step 3: Wash and Done!
Once you removed all of the excess epoxy, paint, and glitter from the rim and inside of the tumbler, all that is left to do is to give a good wash with soap and water.
And that’s it! You’re all done and your tumbler is now ready to go to its new home.
See, so easy, right?! So, stop stressing about the inside of those tumblers, Sis, and focus on creating your magic!
