Guys, can I be really bold for a second? I don’t want to sound over the top here but let me tell you… if you sell your creations, today’s tutorial is going to be a TOTAL GAMECHANGER for you!
I’m going to walk you through exactly how to create beautiful, professional-looking mock up images right in Cricut Design Space!
If you’ve never heard the term before, a mock up is an image that will show your customers exactly what a finished product will look like, without actually having to make the physical product.
What is this wizardry you ask? Well, it’s simple! Just snap a photo of your blank project surface, overlay a digital copy of your design on top, and BOOM, you’ve got a complete image of what your finished project will look like to share with your customers.
Pretty cool, huh?!
So, let’s dive right on in and learn how you can start creating your very own mock ups in Cricut Design Space!
Step 1: Take a Photo
This step is a snap, literally! Just lay out your blank project surface (such as a t-shirt, mug, or like in this example, an onesie) and take a photo.
Pro Tip: Try to use bright, natural lighting whenever possible and keep your camera steady so that your image comes out clear. Don’t worry if your lighting isn’t perfect, you can always make adjustments to the finished image using free editing tools like the Adobe Lightroom Mobile App and various presets (including my own personal collection!) to get the look you want. More on that later!
Step 2: Upload to Cricut Design Space
Upload your photo to Cricut Design Space.
Pro Tip: I like to do this right on my phone because it’s just so easy but if you’d rather work on a Mac or PC you will want to email the photo to yourself and open it on your computer. Once you’ve done that, you can follow along with the rest of the steps below to create your mock up.
Since we’re bringing the full photo into Design Space, you don’t need to do any cleanup, simply upload from your camera roll, tap “Next”, and then choose to save your image as a “Print Then Cut” file.
Next, bring the photo onto your canvas and we’re ready to add our design!
Step 3: Add Design
Begin by creating your design, just as you normally would, in Cricut Design Space.
Once you have your text or design complete, simply place it over your image, resize, and position it as needed.
Step 4: Save your Mock Up
The last step is to take a screenshot of your mock-up, crop it as needed.
That’s it… you’ve officially got a gorgeous mock up ready to share with your customers!
See, total game changes, right?! As you can see, these mock ups are super easy to create and they are the absolute BEST way to showcase your designs without wasting a single scrap of material.
I can’t wait to see what mock ups YOU create! If you give this tutorial a try, I’d love for you to share one of your finished mock ups below so I can see your beautiful work, sis!
