One of my favorite things about crafting is that you can make something truly magical using just a few supplies and a little bit of love. And today’s project is proof that even the simplest of projects can create amazing results!
Today I’m going to be showing you how you can create a pair of gorgeous, DIY leather earrings in 3 incredibly easy steps!
Are you ready, Sis?! Here’s what you’ll need:
Step 1: Cut the Leather
Pro Tip: When working with faux leather, I like to attach a piece of contact paper to the back BEFORE placing on the mat. This will protect your mat from losing its stick from the faux leather’s slightly fuzzy back.
Once you’ve applied the contact paper to the back, simply place the faux leather onto your mat as usual.
Pro Tip: You can find lots of free and paid earring cut files on Cricut Design Space, online, and Etsy.
When setting up your cut, you will want to choose the faux leather setting and normal blade. Note: If you are NOT using Cricut brand faux leather you may want to use the heavy leather setting and deep cut blade depending on the thickness of the material.
Step 2: Add the Earring Hook
Once your machine is done cutting, gently remove the leather from the mat. Now we’re ready to add the hook!
Use your needle nose piles to open up the clasp on your hook slide it right onto your earring.
Pro tip: I wanted these earrings to have more of a dangle, so I added a jump ring to the fish eye hook. If you wanted them to have even more dangle, you could add a couple of jump rings until you get your desired look. Or you could skip the jump hooks all together if that’s more your style.
Step 3: Enjoy!
And that’s it, Sis. Your new earrings are done and ready to wear (or gift)!
I told you it was easy! With so many variations of cut files to choose from, the possibilities of these DIY earrings are truly endless.
