You know how sometimes your kids just need a *new* activity to break up the boredom and add a little extra magic to their day? I’ve got just the thing! This DIY sublimation puzzle is IT, sis! Not only are these puzzles quick and easy to make but you can customize them to your heart’s content!
What you’ll need::
- An Image for your puzzle (I used this one)
- Puzzle blank
- Printer
- Sublimation ink
- Sublimation paper
Start by choosing your design
When it comes to choosing a fun design, I LOVE Creative Fabrica! They have literally *millions* of fun designs to choose from and their All Access subscription gets you access to every single one of them!
Print your design
After choosing your design, it’s time to print it using sublimation paper. Sublimation paper is a special paper that will allow you to transfer the design printed with sublimation ink to your puzzle.
Pro tip: I use an Epson Ecotank I filled with sublimation ink rather than a traditional sublimation printer.
Next, cut away any excess paper from your design and get ready to press.
Press your design
Now it’s time to press!
I like to use a heat-resistant tape like Cricut’s heat tape, to secure the design to the puzzle. This will keep things from shifting around while we press.
Pro tip: use a piece of paper when moving the puzzle to your press so that it doesn’t fall apart on you!
Press your design using the heat and time settings recommended for your press. I used the Cricut Autopress for my project, so I pressed for 30 seconds at 400°.
That’s it, we’re done! Now all that’s left to do is to let the fun begin!
